To All of Charlie’s Friends.
Charlie, the “Big Black Dog,” passed away Friday afternoon, October 1, 2010.
In the days following the loss of Charlie, we’ve talked with many others who’ve lost a loved pet.
Ordinarily when a pet dies, its owners grieve privately. Charlie felt that he belonged not only to Bruce and Kathy but to the people of Jacksonville.
Unfortunately many of Charlie's friends have joined him in doggie heaven. While their owners miss them -- these friends must be happy playing and chasing kitties while waiting for their "pets" to join them.
Dear Bruce & Kathy
My heart breaks for you. Please take care of yourselves and allow your beautiful memories of Charlie to sustain you and bring you some comfort during this very difficult time."
- CatherineOh, how awful. My condolences. The big guy has been an important part of a lot of people’s lives. He’ll be missed. ~ George
Well, I’ve been putting off this response long enough. I’m sorry for your loss. Charlie was the sweetest dog I’ve known, with the possible exception of my Penny. He epitomized the phrase “gentle giant.”
He leaves a big hole in your home, literally and figuratively. You and Kathy have my deepest condolences. ~ George
My heart goes out to you guys, lost my dog a while back, know how hard it is.
Best,
John
We are so sorry about Charlie. We know you must miss him very much. He was a great dog and lucky he lived with you.
~ Helene & Dave
Damn. What a great dog--I know what he means to you. I am so sorry.
Love to all three of you, Carol
Dear Bruce and Kathy, I am so very sorry to hear this. Osteosarcoma is what my Jakob (Rottweiler) died from and is, as I understand, a common disease in the "giant" breeds.
Nothing prepares you for this and my heart just aches for you. Our dogs are family and I will be thinking of you and of Charlie. He is and always will be one of a kind.
Please give him a hug for me. ~ Penni
Bruce and Kathy, My heart goes out to all three of you. I understand how difficult it is to deal with the news as Charlie's mom and dad. If there is any thing, any thing at all, I can do to help please don't hesitate to call or e-mail me. I also recognize and respect the decision to not allow Charlie to be in pain, but the desire to keep him here as long as he can, without the pain. Again, my thoughts and prayers are with you. ~ Jan
Dear Bruce & Kathy, We're so sorry about Charlie. We know it must have been a difficult time for you. He was so lucky to have such great owners! ~Janet, George, Caitlyn, and Doug
To Bruce & Kathy - A contribution has been received by the Oregon Animal Health Foundation in memory of Charlie from the Jacksonville Veternary Hospital. "Thanks for all your love, care, kindness, and compassion for Charlie all these years."
